Join the Classic Movie Book Club at the Library

Now there’s a book club for readers who enjoy classic movies! The Library! at Bown Crossing is launching a Classic Movie Book Club on Tuesday, January 16, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Martie Brennan Room. In this first meeting, the club will discuss Harper Lee’s book, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” and watch the 1962 movie, starring Gregory Peck.

Additional screenings and discussions are scheduled throughout the year. All sessions are on Tuesdays, and run from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

•On March 20, the group will look at Dashiell Hammett’s novel, The Maltese Falcon, and watch the 1941 movie starring Humphrey Bogart.

•On June 19, they’ll discuss Louisa May Alcott’s classic, Little Women, and view the 1933 movie starring Katherine Hepburn.

•On August 21, Daphne du Maurier’s novel, Rebecca, takes center stage, along with the 1940 movie with Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine.

•Finally, on October 16, the group will talk about Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel, The Secret Garden, and screen the 1949 movie starring Margaret O’Brien.
