Description:
Come toss the atlatl, make your own rock art, survey for artifacts, and much more. Join us for the fourth annual Archaeology Fair in honor of Idaho Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month! Hands-on fun for the whole family.

Activities at the fair will include:
Grinding station (hands on experience for participants to use grinding stones to grind corn)
Atlatl Range (hands on experience for participants to use an atlatl or spear-thrower at a target)
Mend or Create a Pot (hands on activity for participants to explore pottery by putting together a broken pot or creating their own)
Flintknapping demonstration (demonstration of how stone tools are created)
Interpreting Archaeological Sites (hands on activity where portions of an "archaeological test area" are revealed so that participants can take a stab at interpreting what is revealed piece by piece)
Rock Art station (participants use stamps to create their own image panel to tell a story)
Faux Dig (hands on experience and participation in digging an excavation unit)
Survey! (hands on experience where participants learn archaeological survey skills by searching for candy)
Artifakes (demonstration and hands on fun exploring artifact replicas)
Tour of the Assay Office Building (tour led by SHPO staff)
