6:30 PM
Boise Public Library
Description:
If you enjoy travel and learning about other cultures, you might want to check out Boise Public Library's upcoming program on the U.S. Foreign Service. Thad Ross, who recently returned to Idaho from a two-year stint at the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will give a close-up view of a diplomat's life at the Main Library on Thursday, August 11, 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Hayes Auditorium.

Ross will talk about his daily life as a U.S. diplomat, what the U.S. Foreign Service does to protect and assist Americans abroad, and the challenges of preparing for high level visits from U.S. officials such as President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry. He'll also cover the process of joining the Foreign Service and the challenges and rewards of representing the United States abroad.

Ross will be heading off to his next assignment at the U.S. State Department in Washington, D. C., later in August.
