Description:
Library Book Discussion Series - July

The Library! at Hillcrest invites readers to explore other countries through its monthly Literature in Translation book discussions, held on Wednesday, July 20 and August 24, at 6:30 p.m. in the Lemhi Room. The current focus is on the Baltic region of northern Europe. Copies of each book are available at the library for those who are planning to attend.

Participants will read and discuss an English translation of literature first published in the author's native language. Discussion will be augmented with information about the books' country of origin and personal photos.

The July 20 title will be When the Doves Disappeared. This work of historical fiction takes the reader through the era of Nazi and Soviet-occupied Estonia prior to its reclaimed status as an independent nation. The last session, on August 24, will be devoted to a discussion of the previously-read books and the theme overall.

For more information, call 972-8340 or visit www.boisepubliclibrary.org/calendar. The Library! at Hillcrest is part of the Boise Public Library system, and is located at 5246 West Overland Road in the Hillcrest Shopping Center.
