These are intended to be single-unit classes, so basic Food Safety principles will be reinforced each time.
Dehydrate at Home:
Wed., September 2, 7:00-9:00 pm (Lecture/Demo) Cost: $15.00
Learn how easy it is to dry fruits, vegetables, fruit leather, and jerky at home. Pre-treatment and storage will also be discussed.
Canning Basics & Tomato Products:
Wed., September 9, 7:00-9:00 pm
(Lecture/Demo) Cost: $15.00
Learn the basics of canning at home safely while using a boiling water canner. Also find out how to preserve tomato products and the importance of acidity.
Pickling:
Wed., September 16, 7:00-9:00 pm
(Lecture/Demo) Cost: $15.00
Learn about different types of pickled foods, correct procedures and proportions of ingredients to make quality and safe pickled products. Problems and solutions will be addressed.
Hands-On Pressure Canning:
Wed., September 23, 6:00-9:30 pm
(Hands-On) Cost: $40.00
Learn why low-acid foods must be canned in a pressure canner. Learn how to identify low-acid foods and safe up-to-date procedures for using and caring for your pressure canner. Participants will be given the opportunity to pressure can low-acid products during this class.
Jams & Jellies:
Wed., September 30, 7:00-9:00 pm
(Lecture/Demo) Cost: $15.00
Learn how to make and process jams, jellies, and conserves. Adjusting firmness will also be explained.
Enroll today! Pre-registration is required as classes fill rapidly. All classes are held at the Ada County Extension Office (5880 Glenwood, Boise).

One week prior to each class.
CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY:
--2 weeks prior to class = full refund;
--1 week prior to class = in-house credit, no refund;
--Less than 1 week prior to class = no credit given and no refund.
