Guided, hands-on workshops explore a variety of art forms and genres

The Boise Public Library's four branch locations will host a series of art-related workshops throughout September and October. The program, titled "Discover Your Art Side," lets attendees explore different types of art through facilitated, hands-on activities. All programs are free to the public, though prior registration may be required for some events.

The schedule is as follows:

Thursday, Sept. 21, 6:30 p.m., Library! at Hillcrest: FIGHT KILL WIN poetry workshop, hosted by Griffin Rae Birdsong of the Death Rattle Writers Festival.
Billed as the "ultimate challenge" for up-and-coming poets, this innovative workshop will focus on how to be a better poet and performer, with an emphasis on stance, coolness, and yelling. No registration is required.

Wednesday, Sept. 27, 7 p.m., Library! at Bown Crossing: Mobiles: Hanging Art
This three-part workshop lets participants build their own mobiles, with all materials provided free of charge by the Library. The first class will turn old books into mobiles, while the second (Oct. 21) will focus on creating mobiles for babies. Saturday, Sept. 30, 1 p.m., Library! at Collister: Homage to Collage with Frottage
Printmaker Amy Nack of Wingtip Press leads this workshop, which focuses on the gel printing process. Using a variety of mediums, Nack will construct a series of luscious, layered prints, and guide participants through the process. Space is limited and registration is required.
