The River Recreation Park Design Meeting
6:00 PM Whittier Elementary School
Description:
Boise Parks & Recreation is hosting a public meeting to present an
updated design created by McLaughlin Water Engineers for the proposed
Ray Neef, MD, River Recreation Park.
The public is invited to attend at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 at Whittier Elementary School, 301 N. 29th St.
Representatives from Boise City Parks & Recreation and McLaughlin
Water Engineers will present updates on design and engineering of the
park and a project timeline. A preliminary design for Esther Simplot
Park will also be unveiled.
Friends of Parks board members will be available to give an update on fundraising for the project.
The River Recreation Park will be located on the Boise River between
Main Street and Veterans Memorial Park. The project will be
constructed in a section of river that was channelized during the
mid-1900s, and will provide a more natural riparian setting, additional
plants and improved fish habitat.
Features will include in-river drops, chutes and boulder obstacles as
well as riverbank seating areas for pedestrians. Several shared
amenities will also benefit the adjacent Esther Simplot Park, including
roads, parking lots, pathways and a shelter/changing area.
For information about design and construction of the park, please contact Tom Governale, superintendent of parks, at tgovernale@cityofboise.org or 384-4060, ext. 318.
