Last year, the Friends organization raised over $100,000 to benefit the
library, through booksales and the Friends Bookstore in the Main
Library. All preparation for and staffing of the sales is provided by
volunteers, who typically sort through about 80,000 items to prepare for
a sale. This year, the Friends donated $237,000 to the Library to
purchase opening-day collections for the new Collister and Hillcrest
branch libraries.
The Friends of the Boise Public Library is a nonprofit volunteer
organization founded to promote the interest and welfare of the library.
