The Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival in Des Moines, Iowa has been going strong for two years and now we’re taking it on the road to several cities around the United States during the summer of 2009! The Bacon Tour will bring together bacon enthusiasts for a celebration of all things bacon. There are a limited number of tickets available for this event, so reserve your spot today.
Attendees will be treated to several bacon appetizers and small plates featuring Vande Rose Artisan Dry Cured bacon, rated #1 bacon by America’s Test Kitchen, featured in Cook’s Illustrated magazine and on the Today Show. The food will be prepared by celebrated local chef Dustan Bristol of Brick 29. The event will also feature a bacon eating contest.
Representatives from Bacon Salt and Bakon Vodka will also be in attendance and serving samples of their products. Bacon Salt has been featured in several major media outlets including Good Morning America, and the inventors recently appeared on Oprah who gave their product, Baconnaise, her seal of approval. Bakon Vodka, which just hit liquor store shelves in April 2009, was recently featured in a skit on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.
Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of Bacon: A Love Story (HarperCollins, May 2009) at the event. The book was written by Nampa native, Heather Lauer, who is also author of the blog, BaconUnwrapped.com.
This half day festival dedicated to the Best Meat Ever will be held at Brick 29 in Nampa, Idaho from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
