‘VENICE: THE COURTS AND CATHEDRAL OF ST. MARK’ DEBUTS NEW MUSIC GROUP DIRECTED BY BOISE STATE PROFESSORS
Critical Mass, a new semi-professional choral group, will make its
debut at 4:30 p.m. May 4 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 707 W. Fort St. Tickets are $15 adults, $10 seniors and students and free for Boise
State University students with ID at the door.
Critical Mass was founded by Boise State Department of Music professors Christopher Raynes and Giselle Wyers; it is now directed by Raynes and Bruce Browne. Critical Mass will perform with the Boise State Academy of St. Giles Early Music Group, under the direction of professor Joseph Baldassarre, as well as James Cook, harpsichord, and Ruth Cook, organ.
“Venice: The Courts and Cathedral of St. Mark” will celebrate the
music of Claudio Monteverdi, from his madrigals of the courts of Mantua
and Venice to his sacred works, created for the Cathedral of St. Mark in
Venice. The performance will feature some of the most colorful music of
the Baroque period.
