In Albee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning autobiographical work, we meet three tall women navigating through the elusiveness of personality and its self-deceptions. Through a stingingly funny and often haunting, unsettling conversation in act one, we witness the collision of a young lawyer, a middle-aged caregiver and a rich, bitter elderly matron who have little patience for one another, and who talk in circles to make—or avoid—any kind of connection. In act two, their true identities are revealed, and the illusion of separateness takes a surprising, and illuminating, turn.
