U.S. Bobsled Athlete Recruiting Tour
10:00 AM    Timberline High School

Description:
BOISE, Idaho --- June 9th, 2009--- Athletes from the Boise area will have the opportunity to earn a spot on the U.S. men’s bobsled team Saturday, July 4th during the U.S. Bobsled Athlete Recruiting Tour organized by bobsled driver and Olympic hopeful, Jay Noller.

The recruiting event will be held on the track and field at Timberline High School in Boise. All male athletes ages 18 and over are invited to participate in this event. Boise area locals will have a chance to test their skills against athletes from cities across the nation including: Orlando, Fla., Denver, San Francisco, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Tex., Las Vegas, and Los Angeles for the right to represent the United States in international competition.

The event will test the athletes’ strength, speed, agility and explosiveness. Tests will include 60 meter sprints, a medicine ball toss, and a vertical test. Top athletes will be signed to a one-year development deal that will see them compete against the best international competition in the world.

Noller was determined to bring the tour to Boise because of the high caliber of athletes and the sport atmosphere that dominates the area.

“Every year I am surprised by the amount of talent that shows up at each stop,” Noller said. “This is our first trip to Boise and I know Idaho will not disappoint.”

Boise State graduate Nick Cunningham found his own way on to the U.S. Bobsled team after serving as Team Captain for the BSU Track Team. He is now pursuing his own path to the 2010 Olympics.

The annual U.S. Bobsled Athlete Recruiting Tour has gained wide-spread popularity and has expanded its tour stops for 2009, demanding a stop on Independence Day.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the holiday than representing America,” Noller said.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. July 4, 2009, at Timberline High School track and is free and open to the public. Registration forms will be available the day of the event so please arrive at least 30min prior to testing.

If you have further questions or are in need of directions, or are a media representative who would like to request an interview, please contact tour organizers via email.
