Description:
Do It Yourself!

Beekeeping, Mushrooms and More

Ever wanted to become a beekeeper, learn how to snow shoe, or how to forage for exotic mushrooms? Now you can learn how to do all that and more at the library. The Library! at Collister is offering a series of practical Do-It-Yourself programs for adults on the second Tuesday each month at 7:00 p.m., starting January 12.

Do-It-Yourself topics include programs about cheap winter sports, beekeeping, the Peace Corps, organic gardening, and safe food foraging. All programs are free and open to the public, and no registration is required.

Tuesday, February 9: Beekeeping. Learn how to become a beekeeper from Renae Woodard, president of the Treasure Valley Beekeepers Club.

Tuesday, March 9: Peace Corps. Kristi Brumley, a former Peace Corps Volunteer in Bulgaria, will share information about the program and about her own experiences as a volunteer.

Tuesday, April 13: Organic Gardening.  Local gardeners will show you just how easy and affordable it can be to create your own organic garden!

Tuesday, May 11. Food Foraging.  Join Alex Hartman, a mycologist (exotic mushroom hunter) and other expert food foragers to learn how and where to find free food in Idaho.

For more information, call the library at 562-4995.  The Library! at Collister is a branch of the Boise Public Library system and is located at 4724 W. State St. in the Collister Shopping Center.
