11:00am - Post Independent Cinema Panel at Foxtrot (1419 Grove Street)
In this discussion with our talented guest filmmakers we seek to find out what is going on now that the golden age of independent film (ie. the 90's) is a thing of the past; digital revolution coming in a little short and Youtube not exactly raising the next generation of cinema lovers...and how in spite of all these obstacles, filmmakers continue to produce and share their work. Is this the new age of micro-cinema?
*This panel is free and open to the public!

2:30 - True West Cinema Youth Program
A whimsical collection of short films and animations created by students of the 2008 True West Cinema Youth Summer Camp.
*This screening is approximately 20 minutes, FREE and open to the public!

3:00pm - Afraid to Merge
Directors Caleb and Joshua Young will be in attendance. This film, shot with 16mm cinematography, is a sublime Northwest gem which unfolds the story of Preston, who returns home after graduation to find that his mother has left and his father is sleeping with his young male assistant. Preston confronts his father, looking for an answer, but even his father has no explanation for the turn.

Trying to bring his family back together through reconnection and new friendships, Preston discovers a whirlwind of assumptions, suspicion, and false information that only lead him back to the ensuing tragedy.

5:00pm - James Castle: Portrait of an Artist, sponsored by J. Crist Gallery
Director Jeffery Wolf will be in attendance. James Castle was born deaf in central Idaho's remote Garden Valley. He refused to read, write, sign, or fingerspell; communicating instead through the eloquence of his art. Castle, who was self-taught, has gained world recognition as a prominent contemporary artist since his death in 1977.

James Castle: Portrait of an Artist reveals the artist's life and creative process, as told by family members, art historians, curators, artists, collectors, and members of the deaf community. A true case of triumph of the spirit, Castle's inspirational story is one of monumental achievement.

7:00pm - Remarkable Power
Producer and Co-Writer Scott Sampila will be in attendance. With the plug about to be pulled on his late night talk show after a fifteen year run, and his wife engaged in a steamy affair with a pro baseball star, host Jack West (Kevin Nealon) is desperate - to keep aflame his fading celebrity, and avenge the misdeeds of his adulterous spouse. With the clock ticking, Jack concocts the mother of all media stunts, killing two birds with one unforgettable stone on the road to redemption.

The scheme entangles an eclectic collection of colorful locals navigating their way through unpredictable twists and turns. A plump private eye (Tom Arnold) teams with a macabre web-mistress (Nora Zehetner) to investigate the strange disappearance of a dead body. A glassy-eyed cheddar head (Evan Peters) falls prey to a phony get-rich-quick guru (Christopher Titus). Imperiled actors (Kip Pardue & Dulé Hill) embark on a quest for a fresh corpse.

Cops in costume, a peculiar special effects make-up team, porn stars with dreams of stardom, a Jewish drug lord with very large brothers, Russian mobsters and others converge in this unique roller-coaster ride of comedy, mystery, murder and mayhem through the underbelly of modern day Sodom and Gomorrah.
