Description:
DANCEFEST COMBINES TOP-NOTCH INSTRUCTION, PERFORMANCES AT BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY
Dancers age 12 and older can test their skills, receive
instruction from top performers and choreographers and participate in
public performances during DanceFest, June 16-28 at Boise State
University. All classes will take place at the Morrison Center for the
Performing Arts on the Boise State campus.
Since 1990, DanceFest has been one of the most distinguished and
unique dance workshops in the Northwest. Students from around the West
and around the country are invited to attend this intensive workshop,
which includes a full curriculum of ballet, jazz and modern classes.
Daily classes include ballet, pointe, men’s class, pas de deux, jazz,
modern and choreography rehearsal.
Instructors include Boise State professor and DanceFest organizer
Marla Hansen, Nichole Ortega, Jennifer Martin, Jenn Freeman, Frank
Affrunti and more. Aside from working with top-notch instructors,
Hansen said, students will learn the necessary performance skills by
participating in a full dance production. “It exposes them to aspects
of being a professional dancer that they wouldn’t usually get,” she
said.
Students who are interested in attending DanceFest must send in an
audition tape, audition in person, or be recommended by an instructor.
