The Third Annual Boise Walk for Food Allergy is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Veterans Memorial Park. There is no charge to register but participants will be encouraged to form Teams and fundraise through our on-line registration. Sponsors will be encouraged to participate with a corporate donation and will be provided a booth/table at the event. The Walk is a family-friendly event that takes place in communities nationwide to raise funds for food allergy research, education, advocacy and awareness. This special day will include fun activities for the entire family.

More than 15 million Americans, including 3 million children, have a food allergy, which is the leading cause of anaphylaxis (a serious allergic reaction that is rapid in onset and may cause death) outside the hospital setting and results in 50,000 to 125,000 emergency room visits each year, depending on the source. Eight foods account for 90% of all allergic reactions in the U.S.: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy, fish, and shellfish.
